FACTS ABOUT THE ISLAND:
💸 Currency: Caribbean Guilder/Florin (XCG); US Dollars widely accepted; credit cards / Apple Pay common. Just changed over from Antilles Guilder in June 2025.
🗣️ Language: Papiamentu (a creole language), Dutch, and Spanish; English is commonly spoken in tourist areas.
🚍 Public Transport: We used taxis (no Uber) or preferably rent a car for exploring the island. Thanks Sarah Glenn for driving us everywhere!
🍽️ Local Cuisine: Stobá (stew), Funchi (cornmeal side), and fresh seafood. Their cactus soup also supposedly makes you love to be over 100.
👛 Safety: Generally safe, but be aware of your surroundings, especially at night in less-trafficked areas.
📆 Best Time to Visit: Year-round, as it's outside the hurricane belt; September and October are the hottest months.
